EcoBling Jewellery

EcoBling create beauty from the craziest things - a necklace made from an old (loose translation: vintage) washing machine - not the whole washing machine (too heavy); earrings from recycled beer bottles (what better can be done with a beer bottle minus the beer?); a staircase moulded into the kind of style that stands out in the masses - a stepping stone to stardom, excuse the pun. At last count EcoBling had diverted 3 tonnes of waste from landfill and transformed it into sustainable, environment and people-friendly jewellery. Not only do EcoBling create beautiful pieces from recycled materials that would otherwise end up as landfill, but they also do all sorts of other amazing things. They work with Indigenous artists throughout Australia in order...

Hive Beeswax Candles - what's so stupefying about them?

So you've got a candle? So what? It's made from beeswax? Now you're talking! We've got them too - beeswax, and only beeswax. Why? Read on, my friend, and you shall find out! Reason numero uno: beeswax candles are not paraffin - surprising? I think not! A natural by-product of the honey industry, rather than the petroleum industry, you can't go wrong. Rather than releasing harmful toxins into the air, beeswax candles release negative ions, meaning that it cleanses the air you breathe, negating the positive charge of air contaminants and neutralising the air. On top of that, HIVE only use 100% cotton wicks, so there are no extra nasties hiding in your wick - what a relief! You won't...

They have since generously expanded to include new friends, including us, so that more people can look cool in their sunnies. There are few words to describe how awesome their selections are, but I'll try my best :) Eco-friendly material Spring hinges Polarised lenses UVA...

Nine Yaks Scrumptious Cashmere

As Melbourne's weather cools down; as the sunny days become more rare and the rain becomes less of a possibility and more of a probability, we are turning towards clothing that we can wear like a second skin. If I were a goat, I would certainly carry around some extra wool knitted in the shape of a poncho, or a cardigan, or a jumper. As a matter of fact, even though I'm human, I want to do the same. Luckily for me, we are stocking a variety of Nine Yaks Cashmere designs. Not only are they light, warm, scrumptious and even more amazing than you could possibly imagine, but they are ethical as well! What? Ethical as well? Awesome! My favourite is...

Deadwood Creative

What to do with a broken down, old skateboard? Some people would just throw it away. Others, like Sam Messina from Deadwood Creative, would break them down further and create a beautiful necklace, or maybe a bangle or earrings.                                   Sam and his wife, Ellie, have been working together since 1998 to create works of wearable art. They surround themselves with nature, living in the forest in Northern New South Wales, drawing on nature's guidance to create sustainable, long-lasting products that make you feel as good as you look wearing them. Buying products like Deadwood Creative mean that less rubbish is going back into the...
