Otto & Spike proudly knit everything in their factory in East Brunswick. Occasionally popular items sellout quickly and Otto & Spike knit them especially for you.
Otto and Spike has been knitting in Brunswick, Melbourne for around 50 years, creating beautifully made knitwear and accessories from Australian Extra Fine Merino and pure lambswool. The brand is deeply connected to its local roots and to Melbourne life - where a warm beanie or scarf can come in handy whether you’re heading to the footy, wandering the laneways or simply rugging up on a chilly day. While much of Australia’s textile manufacturing has moved overseas,
Otto and Spike is proud to still be designing and producing knitted goods locally in East Brunswick. Their story also grew from a desire not to let beautiful wool go to waste. As local knitting businesses closed and the industry changed, they accumulated surplus yarn in all sorts of colours and quantities. Rather than seeing it end up in landfill, they found ways to incorporate these leftover Australian wools into their collections, with their first five ranges made predominantly from surplus yarn. Today, they continue to reuse leftover wool while also working with additional Australian Merino and lambswool. We love that combination of local craftsmanship, thoughtful design and giving beautiful materials another life - values that make Otto and Spike such a natural fit for Pookipoiga.
