Disease-Resistant Poinsett Cucumber

Grow your own fresh cucumbers with Little Veggie Patch Co Cucumber 'Poinsett' Heirloom Seeds. Poinsett is a very disease-resistant variety that produces a large amount of smooth, dark green-skinned fruit, typically growing to around 20cm in length.

This is a great slicing cucumber, enjoyed fresh with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and the early summer sun. Regular picking encourages the plant to produce more fruit, so pick liberally throughout the growing season.

How to Grow

Soil

Prepare a well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Mix in compost and well-rotted animal manure a fortnight prior to planting.

Position

Sunny spot in well-drained soil. Plant at the base of your eggplant or corn. Alternatively, consider growing the plant on a trellis to save space.

How to Plant 

Sow the seeds directly into the directly into the patch once the soil temperature reaches approximately 18-20 degrees. Water daily for the first month and then cut back to 3 times a week, weather dependent.
