How to Grow 

Soil

Tomatoes are nitrogen-hungry, so prepare the soil by integrating nitrogen-rich pea or broad bean plants as green manure. Alternatively, mix compost and chook manure through the garden bed approximately a fortnight before planting.

Position

Choose a sunny, well-drained position. Where possible, plant in an area where tomatoes were not grown during the previous season.

How to Plant

Propagate seeds in seed trays. Tomatoes can be grown in larger pots but prefer an in-ground veggie patch. Pinching out the first side shoots is recommended to encourage plant growth.
